If you’d like to carry out commercial filming or photography in locations managed by Bristol City Council, please make your application here.

Please note, crews working on location in Bristol and contractors working for the production are expected to adhere to the Filming in Bristol Code of Practice which forms part of the terms and conditions of applying for permission to film.
Parking
Bristol City Council can arrange for the suspension of certain on-street parking bays and car park bays around the city.
Arrangements are made directly with Bristol City Council’s Parking Services team, who will process your application and fulfil the request. Please complete the parking suspension request form here: Film crew parking suspension request form.
Road Closures and Traffic Management
For closures of up to two days a notice period of two weeks is required. You will need to apply for a Temporary Traffic Regulation Notice (TTRN) which is £662 +VAT and payable in advance. Apply for a temporary traffic regulation notice (TTRN).
Unit Base
There are a number of unit bases in the city. Some are Council-managed and booked through Bristol Film Office, others are privately owned. Please refer to our ‘Unit Bases in Bristol’ document for further information.
To apply for permission to hire one of Bristol City Council’s sites as a unit base, please submit a permit application here.
Drone
If you want to take off and land a drone on Bristol City Council land, you will need to give us at least seven days’ notice and apply for filming permission.

Students
As student you need to apply for a filming permit. Please ensure that you have read and understood our Student Guidelines before applying.
Bristol Film Office is unable to support interior filming in Bristol City Council buildings for student productions due to staffing and cost limitations.
Child Performance Licence
If you are a production company or agency employing a child, you may need to apply for a licence. Please see the Bristol City Council children in employment page for further information.
