Holding a public event
If you are organising an event in the Sevenoaks District, you are responsible for the health, safety and welfare of everyone involved.
The Safety Advisory Group
The Safety Advisory Group (SAG) is made up of the Council, emergency services and other organisations. It meets to review event applications. The SAG can provide independent advice, but event organisers have legal responsibility for ensuring a safe event. SAGs do not have powers to approve or prohibit an event, but individual organisations who make up the SAG can do so.
We need 12 weeks’ notice for most events to make sure you meet the legal requirements.
The SAG will not carry out any roles associated with the organisation or management of an event.
As well as submitting an event application, you may need to apply for other relevant consents and licences.
Notifying the Council of an event does not absolve the event organiser of any health and safety responsibility nor does it infer the Council has any responsibility for health and safety in relation to the event.
The SAG can invite you to attend the meeting.
If you have any questions about organising an event, please email event.notifications@sevenoaks.
